FARMINGTON - SP 11 SW 3/289 Barn on the east side of track to Folly Farm 31.10.86 II

Barn. Mid-late C18. Limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins; stone slate on roof pitch facing south towards the A40, slate at rear. Rectangular plan; projecting porch added on south; lean-to at rear now demolished (except for the east wall). South front: gabled porch projects forwards left. Blocked doorway with dressed stone surround with keystone to the right of the porch, similar blocked doorway but with a timber lintel opposite. Stone steps (now partially demolished) up to plank door to loft, at the west gable end. Ventilation slit above the door. Pitching window and ventilation slits in the east gable end. Flat coping to gables.

Interior: 4 bays with the original collar and tie beam roof trusses with raking struts. Loft within the roof-space of the westernmost bay with wattle and daub partition above the tie beam.

Flagged threshing floor.
