Early C18 house of 3 storeys, 5 windows, altered in front. Moderately high pitched, hippe, double-span roof renewed in machine tiles. Symmetrical chimney stacks, now roughcast, in gully. Parapet front. Walls thickly covered with roughcast but showing traces of 1st and 2nd floor bands. Replaced sash windows with glazing bars in flush moulded frames. Modern shops on ground floor. Replaced, 6-panel central door, with cornice head and modern patterned fanlight, in round arches, moulded architrave. Framing this are fluted pilasters, panelled impost blocks and dentilled rounded cornice.
Rear elevation of original brick with bands at 1st and 2nd floors. Segmental brick arches to sash windows with glazing bars in flush, moulded frames. Reproduction Georgian doorcase and modern, half glazed door.
Inside, a barrel-vaulted hall, groin-vaulted at door and staircase entrances.
Early C17 staircase, very wide with shallow treads, in 2 long, straight flights between floors. Stairway walled on both sides with wood-lined lower parts and handrail set free from wall to give grip. Square posts at intervals carved with strapwork and having inverted, heart-shaped finials. Round arch to upper flight with pronounced impost blocks and a central pendant matching the staircase finials, but hollow. Many old doors and doorframes. RCHM.
