Terraced houses. c.1825. Developed by Richard Laycock. Yellow-brown brick, stucco, roofs of Welsh slate to nos 1 and 6, the rest obscured by parapet. Two and three storeys over basement, two windows each; probably originally designed as a broadly symmetrical group CBAABC, many of the symmetries now lost. No l: all openings have gauged brick heads; stucco band over basement; steps up to elliptical-arched entrance set in a recessed elliptical-arched panel; simple doorcase and fanlight with decorative glazing. Ground-floor window with flattened elliptical arch set in a recessed panel of the same profile and 6/6 sashes with intersecting tracery. Storey band with sunk lettering 'WILLOW COTTAGE'. First-floor windows flat-arched and set in a recessed round-arched panel with impost band; 6/6 sashes and balcony with iron railings. Stepped brick cornice; two dormers in mansard roof, side stacks. On nos 2 and 5 the entry bay is recessed and the middle part of the window bay breaks forward; stucco basement scored as ashlar; round-arched entrance set back in stuccoed, rusticated, round-arched porch; ground-floor window flat-arched with stucco architrave cornice on consoles, tripartite glazing, and bracketed balcony with cast-iron railings. First-floor windows round-arched to entry bay; to the window bay they are segmental-arched with gauged brick heads on no 2, flat-arched with architraves on no 5, with 6/6 sashes to entry bay and 10/10 sashes including margin lights to window bay; stucco frieze, cornice and parapet to no 2, frieze and cornice only to no 5 which has an attic storey with two flat-arched, architraved windows with 6/6 and 10/10 sashes as below, and margin lights; parapet. Nos 3 and 4 have stucco basements scored as ashlar, steps up to flat-arched entrance with presumably original railings, stucco architrave and cornice on consoles; cornice, overlight and panelled door to no 4. Ground-floor window flat-arched with stucco architrave and cornice on consoles. First-floor windows segmental-arched with gauged brick heads, keystones and 6/6 sashes; frieze, cornice and blocking course. No 6: stucco to basement and ground floor, the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. Steps up to round-arched entrance with presumably original railings. Simple doorcase, cornice and fanlight. Ground-floor window round-arched and set in a flat-arched recessed panel of plain stucco. First-floor windows flat-arched with 6/6 sashes in entry bay, flat-arched with gauged brick heads set in elliptical-arched recessed panel with gauged brick head in window bay; balcony with iron railings, stucco to parapet, two dormers in mansard, side stack.
