GV II*

House. Probably C16, altered C17, greatly modified and extended C18 and early C19. Stuccoed brick on timber frame. Green slate roof with C17 chimneystack of clustered polygonal shafts. 2 storeys. Early C19 Gothic front of 7 windows. Square central porch with clustered shafts and traceried frieze. Arch-headed sash windows, top lights ogeed, have flat hood moulds and reeded panel shutters on Ground floor, curved hoods on 1st floor.

Roughcast S gable end with canted 1st floor Gothic sash window.

Rear elevation has two and a half storey gabled wings to N and S with Ground floor Regency bows of 3, 6/6 sash windows. Single sashes with reeded architraves above. Between wings is bridge carried on clustered Gothic shafts of Ground floor loggia. Very good interior. Earlier C18 panelling and central staircase.

Rest, later C17, oak newel stair in square well, in SW corner.

Early C17 painted beam and panels behind panelling of N staircase wall. The house continues on the N side in late C19, 1 window house, painted brick and roughcast, steep pitched old red tile roof. 6-light, small pane, Ground floor casement. To ends of main front are quadrants of Regency wrought iron railings, formerly continuous to porch. (RCHM Typescript).
