NEEDHAM MARKET KING WILLIAM STREET TM 0855
3/135 Nos. 17 and 19
9.12.55
GV II
Two houses, probably built as one in C18; a C16 wing to rear of No.17. 2 storeys, the rear wing of 1 storey with attics. Timber-framed and plastered; some C18 plasterwork with roughcast panels broadly outlined in smooth plaster, mainly at upper storey. Concrete plaintiled roof (old clay plaintiles at the rear). End and rear chimneys of red brick. At 1st storey, No.17 has small- pane late C18 sashes, and at ground storey a splayed cantilevered bay with small panes, of C20 in the C18 style. 4-panelled entrance door, the upper panels glazed. A wide C20 recess in the facade gives access to C20 doorways to Nos. 19 and 21. The rear wing of No.17 has good close-studding, a coupled- rafter roof, lodged upper floor joists and evidence for diamond-mullioned windows. A wide open fireplace has a truncated cambered lintel. Front range rebuilt C18 with many reused components, no doubt from previous building.
No,19 now comprises a store at ground storey and a bedroom above; both are in the occupancy of No.21 but structurally part of No.17.
