885 CHURCH LANE (East Side) BOCKING No 120 (The White Cottage) TL 7524 4/184 II

A C17 timber-framed and plastered cottage, said to be originally a cowman's cottage. Altered and renovated in the C20. A gabled wing extends on the north side and is jet tied on the 1st storey, with a C20 carved bressumer, in C17 style. The south front has C20 casement windows with leaded lights and a projecting porch with a swept roof. There is a C17 battened door with a 4-centered head, probably taken from another building. Roof tiled, with 3 gabled dormers on the south side. The interior has exposed ceiling beams.
