Late C19. Large building of red brick with dressings of terra-cotta and blue and green glazed tiles. Slated roofs, tall brick chimneys. Gabled 3-bay side sections flank a 7-bay gabled centre with open arcading on the 3 floors above the ground floor; also a sunk basement. Arcading of terra-cotta with patterned spandrels and inscriptions indicating royal patronage. On ground floor, elliptical-arch closed arcading with decorative tympana; similar decoration divides floors in side sections. Curved corner to Stamford Street return. Tall wrought-iron area railings. At north end, glazed brick piers have terra-cotta cornices and an overthrow with lampholder.
