Monument. Erected 1857 to Sir Thomas Clarkson of Playford Hall (died 1846).

A plain granite obelisk about 5 metres high on a square plinth. A brief inscription on each of 4 sides. In close partnership with William Wilberforce, Sir Thomas Clarkson initiated and organised the campaign for the abolition of slavery, from the late C18 until it was finally abolished by Act of Parliament in 1834.
