GV II

Police station. c1840. Brick with ashlar dressings; hipped slate roof. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys with basement; symmetrical 3-window range. Basement has half arches springing from retaining wall and platt band over; 1st floor sill band and top frieze and modillioned eaves. Windows have plain surrounds; 2-light single-chamfered-mullioned windows to basement; C20 casements to ground floor; 12-pane sashes to 1st floor. Entrance has flat pilasters, entablature and blocking course with inscription: POLICE to frieze; overlight and 4-panel door. Returns similar; right return has recessed rear wing to right. INTERIOR not inspected.
