SS 2306 BUDE-STRATTON MAIDEN STREET, STRATTON

13/195 Hyde-Away House and walls to - north and south of pathway between Maiden Street and east of house GV II

House, formerly Wesleyan Methodist Chapel and walls on either side of pathway leading from Maiden Street to Hyde-Away House. House built as Chapel 1837, remodelled, probably internally, 1890. Walls probably contemporary with building of Chapel. House stone rubble with polyphant dressings and hipped slate roof.

Cob walls on stone plinth have slate coping. House is rectangular in plan, Gothick in style. 2 windows to front, 2 to sides. Symmetrical front has central 2-leaf front door under pointed stone arch with keystone. Front door has 9 panels per leaf with some C19 stained glass in upper panels. 2 pointed windows, formerly lighting gallery also have keystones to arches. 3-light transomed pointed timber windows have intersecting glazing bars in the head.

Interior not inspected.

Walls on either side of path from Maiden Street to Hyde-Away House included for group value.
