SZ6499NW GLOUCESTER VIEW, Southsea 774-1/22/347 (North side) 25/09/72 Nos.1-11 (Consecutive) and attached railings and wall

Terrace of 11 houses. c1840. Red brick in Flemish bond. No.1 has low pitch slate roof, others concealed, rendered stack to centre of No.1, left of No.2, centre of No.3, then stack between Nos 7 and 8, 8 and 9, 9 and 10 and to right of No.11.

Each house 2 storeys and basement, 1 bay, Nos 10 and 11 each have C20 attic. To left of each house Nos 1-6 are 3 stone steps and to Nos 7-11 4 stone steps all with flanking railings approaching 6-panelled door with fanlight set under elliptical gauged brick arch with moulded imposts. On right and to first floor each has one 18-pane sash set under flat rendered arch, margin glazed basement window and attached railings plain or with scrolled spear heads on dwarf stone wall. Stone capped brick dentil band and stone coped parapet. Nos 10 and 11 each have C20 dormer. INTERIOR not inspected. (Lloyd DW: Buildings of Portsmouth and its Environs: Portsmouth: 1974-: 91).
