SD 52SW FARINGTON CROSTON ROAD

8/8 No.507 (Armetridings) 11.11.1966 (Formerly listed as 507 Croston Road II (Manor House Farmhouse))

Farmhouse, dated 1706 (but probably earlier), now house. Rendered brick on stone plinth, some stone dressings visible, roof of stone slates (rear) and blue slates (front). Linear plan of 3 bays with baffle entry, ridge chimney stack and gable chimney stack at right end. Two storeys and garret. Entrance with stone doorcase and segmental hood between 1st and 2nd bays, 3 windows on each floor all with keystones, those above smaller and all now casements. Datestone over door lettered: W R E 1706 Rear has central 2-storey porch with stone quoins. Interior: fireplace bressummers in 1st and 2nd bays; pair of ovolo-moulded bridging beams in 2nd bay. Roof has large side purlins (visible through garret windows).
