Description

On 29th June 1892, Shadbolt and Dale were involved in a balloon accident at Crystal Palace. Dale died that day, with Shadbolt dying of his injuries on the 8th July.

Shadbolt is known to have launched his balloons from Lillie Bridge Park, Alexandra Palace and Crystal Palace, and this photograph may have been taken at one of these sites. This slide was used in Cecil Victor Shadbolt's lecture 'Balloons and Ballooning, Upward and Onwards'
