Why We Need Your Support

We need your help in order to champion and protect England's historic environment.

For education

With your help we can support education. We aim to reach the most disadvantaged children, to help them be inspired by their local heritage, and to help teachers across the country to have brilliant resources to use inside and outside the classroom.

For apprenticeships

With your help we can create more apprenticeships, providing opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to learn sustainable skills for the heritage sector, investing in people and places. We are committed to training a skilled workforce that will care for, conserve and manage our historic environment into the future.

To save collections

With your help we can save collections for the nation which might otherwise be lost and unlock our archives so that everyone can access nationally important collections. We hold more than 9 million images of England including many important, sensitive collections which urgently need care and digitisation to make them truly accessible and available to all.

To champion Heritage at Risk

With your help we can champion Heritage at Risk, protecting and saving the places that define who we are and where we've come from as a nation. From medieval timber-framed buildings, a First World War aerodrome, to sweeping Georgian landscapes, Edwardian suburban streets, and 17th-century wrecks sunk off the coast. There are almost 5,000 historic sites still on the Heritage at Risk Register, each of them unique.

We need your help to carry out our vital programme of work and save the places that matter, today.
