Martello Tower "Z", south east of Buckanay Farm, Alderton - East Suffolk

Martello Tower Z forms part of a chain of Martello towers along the south and east coast of England dating from the early C19. The tower has been unused since the Second World War. Whilst generally robust and structurally sound, a 2014 condition survey undertaken as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund 'Touching the Tide' Project has indicated the need for repairs to prevent water ingress. Further discussions with the owner are needed to consider any urgent conservation works to the tower.
