Windmill, Green Lane, Old Buckenham - Breckland

A brick tower mill of 1818, now with reinstated cap and sails. Described in the Statutory List as being the largest diameter mill in England, driving five pairs of millstones with machinery that includes an unusually large crown wheel. There is extensive cracking and bulging of the brickwork, leakage in the cap and deterioration of timber in the crosstrees, the fantail and its frame. A repair programme has begun with Phase 1 to repair the brick tower, with a Historic England Repair Grant, now completed. Phase 2 will involve the cap, winding and running gear and phase 3 new stocks and sails.
