Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne - Bracknell Forest (UA)

A mid-C19 asylum designed by Joshua Jebb with rare survival of large kitchen garden as the focus for therapeutic work. Sited on a ridge the cascading walled gardens and institutional farm are highliy significant. The setting of ornamented farmland is vulnerable. Development of the new hospital is complete with the original complex allocated for comprehensive mixed use/residential development. A pre-development Conservation Management Plan is required and close liaison is welcomed to minimise further harm to the historic design integrity and explore significance for sustainabile living here.
