Barn at Rook Hall, Eye - Mid Suffolk

Late medieval timber framed barn with significant structural issues, requiring intervention to protect the special interest of the site. A Historic England Repair Grant was awarded towards the cost of temporary works needed to stabilise the structure and implemented in June 2018. Site inspection August 2022 revealed that north wall sole plate is structurally discontinuous and rests on brick plinth which is in a state of partial collapse. Barn structure is twisted in places, jointing in poor condition. Owner in discussion with Historic England regarding further grant assistance.
