98 and 98a, Clapton Common (also known as 1-4 Belz Terrace) E5 - Hackney

Regency stucco-fronted villa of 1825 with central portico entrance and pairs of curved bay windows, facing onto the nearby common. It was used as a home for destitute children in C19 and converted into flats in 1928, becoming a school in about 1985. There are longstanding unlawful works and the building suffered a fire in 2017. Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent were granted for repairs and extensions as a school in 2018, and works have commenced. However, the building is still deteriorating, and the Local Authority has since taken enforcement action.
