Market Building, Market Place, Penzance - Cornwall (UA)

Built 1836-38. Altered 1925. Partially occupied; the western half by Lloyds Bank, the eastern half is vacant. The roof was repaired approximately five years ago although some leaks persist. Vulnerable historic interiors have had plaster falls on the vacant eastern half. Outbreaks of timber decay persist in the unventilated interiors. Basement ceiling collapse has led to the need for floor propping. Repair proposals to resolve the issues with the floor have been submitted to the local authority and are pending a decision.
