Church of St Peter, Church Lane, Saxelbye, Grimston - Melton

Parish church of C13 origin, contributions of C14 and C15 and restored 1856-7. The church is constructed of ironstone with limestone dressings. The ironstone tower is topped with a limestone spire. Tower masonry is quite badly eroded and, whilst this is common for ironstone, some erosion is considerable and some sizeable masonry fragments had fallen to the ground. Pointing is in poor / very poor condition generally. There are very many open joints and several holes have formed.
