Windmill, Thaxted - Uttlesford
Red brick tower windmill built in 1804 for John Webb. A full survey with budget costs for repairs has recently been carried out. Extensive damp internally from eroded brickwork, open joints, causing widespread mould on internal walls, deflection in one of the main floor beams with decaying ends housed in the brickwork. The Trust have installed temporary propping and are funds raising for an urgent first phase of work to restore structural integrity and excess moisture leakage through the walls. Successful Expression of Interest and National Lottery Heritage Fund development work proceeding.
