Description and list
This document lists the current holdings of the Historic England Zooarchaeology reference collection held at Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth.
The zooarchaeology vertebrate comparative collection includes around 3300 skeletons of mainly British and Continental European species. Most skeletons are complete. These include approximately 115 species of mammal, 220 species of bird, 55 species of fish, and some reptiles and amphibians. The vertebrate skeleton reference collection is available for consultation: please refer to our access policy.
