Gates and gatepiers at Hoar Cross Hall, Maker Lane, Hoar Cross, Burton-on-Trent DE13 8QS

Hoar Cross Hall Hotel and Spa is a grade II listed stately home in Staffordshire. The gatepiers and entrance gates to the south boundary of the terrace garden are grade II* listed. Commissioned by Hugo Meynell Ingram as a family home, the hall was completed in 1871. Elizabethan in style with Jacobean overtones, the gables, turreted water towers, 48 chimneys and mullioned windows are excellent examples of the period. The formal gardens stay true to Emily Meynell Ingram's 19th century design. The grounds boast an Italian water garden, six lakes and a shepherd's hut. The grand entrance hall and oak-panelled Long Gallery spans more than 100 feet in length. The ornamental ceiling was designed by Victorian architect George Frederick Bodley.
