Harrow Hill flint mines, Angmering, West Sussex

The flint mines on Harrow Hill in West Sussex were worked between 4,000 and 2,200 BC. The circular depressions seen here are the remains of collapsed mine shafts. The small enclosure on the hilltop was constructed later, in circa 1,000 BC. Read detailed archaeological description.
