1-12 Mile End Row, Blackburn, Lancashire

This terrace of houses is typical of many 19th century workers houses. These were not paid for by a factory owner, but by the workers themselves. Many workers formed or joined Building Societies that were aimed at providing such homes. It is recorded that 'Fifteen members subscribed to build 33 cottages on Mile End Row and West View Place, with end properties facing Revidge Road'.
