SS 62 SW SATTERLEIGH AND WARKELEIGH 3/205 Former school now used for - storage circa 3 metres south-east of Deason Cottages GV II Former school, now used for storage. 1846. Random stone rubble with rough stone dressings. Slate roof with gable ends. Small rectangular single cell schoolroom with gable entry. Single pointed arched windows to each side and at south-east gable end and semi-circular arched doorway with blind fanlight and 4-panelled door at north-west end. Inscription to stone plaque over gable and window reads: 1846 This Schoolroom was erected by I.Stevens of Warkleigh for the Education of the Poor Children of Warkleigh And the Neighbourhood.

Subscribers T Burgess I Beer I Passmore Deason School was erected in the same year as the original National School in the parish as a result of a disagreement between the local non-conformist and Church of England congregations. It was used on Sundays by the Bible Christians, but it is not known when it ceased to be a school. It was subsequently used as a shed for thatchers, as a cobbler's shop or, as now, as an outhouse.
