WORLINGWORTH FINGAL STREET TM 26 NW 5/120 Crown House - II Former farmhouse, latterly a public house, now private dwelling. First half of C16 with early C17 parlour addition. Timber framed and plastered, the plaster lined in imitation of ashlar. Roof plaintiled to front and pantiled to rear, half-hipped over the service end to the left. 2 storeys and attic.
3-cell form. Various casement windows of C19 and mid C20 date; hall has mid C20 windows front and rear with replacement diamond mullions in orignal matrices. Lobby entry: gabled porch of colourwashed brick with C20 boarded door. Stack has mid C20 shaft. Earlier part has widely-spaced studs with tension braces. Plain joists in hall and service end. Queen-post roof.
Parlour addition also has widely-spaced studs, with arched bracing at the corners. On the ground floor there is an axial bridging beam with grooved ogee stop-chamfers, plain joists and remains of a secondary window with ovolo mullions. C16-C17 newel stairs.
