Early C19, the core perhaps earlier. Painted brick; 2 storeys; 3 sash windows plus 2 blocked. Ground floor has arched recesses to Nos 41 and 42; 3 simple doorways with cambered heads; dentilled eaves; old tiles.

Returned side of No 42 is tied with No 51 CARTWAY.

Nos 40, 41 and 42 form a group with Nos 51-68 (consec) CARTWAY.
