CARTHORPE MAIN STREW SE 38 SW (north side) 6/14 Borrowdale House

House. Mid C18 with early C19 additions. Red brick, pantile roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays, with 1 storey, 3 bay early C19 wing projecting to front right-hand bay with graduated stone slate roof. Left-hand bay is also an early C19 addition. To right of left-hand bay a C20 panel door with flat brick arch. Windows are 4-pane sashes with stone sills and flat brick arches, those to C18 part of gauged brick. First-floor window to right-hand bay now blocked and covered by roof of early C19 wing. Stone coping, end stack to left and rendered ridge stack between bays 2 and 3. Interior: in a back room a large fireplace with basket-arched lintel. Early C19 wing has blocked door to left and 2 different sized sashes with glazing bars to right, all below flat brick arches. Dentilled eaves. Brick ridge stacks.
