PONTEFRACT MARKET PLACE SE 4521 NE (south-east side) 8/37 Nos 15 to 21 (odd) 5.11.68 (formerly listed as 'No 13, No 15, No 17, No 19, No 21')

GV II

Terrace of 4 houses, now a public house, restaurant and shops. Early-mid C18 with late C19 and C20 alterations. Rendered brick with stone dressings and slate roof.

3 tail storeys and 7 bays. Central entrance and through-passages to outer bays.

Ground floor has semi-circular-headed arches to through-passages with rusticated jambs, radiating voussoirs and dropped keystones, arch to right is wider. Both arches have narrow cornice over. Recessed central entrance is flanked by C20 shop fronts. To first and second floors, left-hand corner has a rusticated pilaster strip. First floor has 7 narrow flush-frame plate-glass sash windows over moulded sill band with projecting bracketed sills. Above, 7 similar, smaller windows over similar band and sills with later moulded gutter below. Early C20 egg-and-dart and moulded cornice. Steeply pitched roof with swept eaves. No stacks.
