DARRINGTON WENTBRIDGE SE41NE (west side of road) 7/27 Wenthill Farmhouse 11.12.1967 - II Farmhouse, now house. Dated 1627 in gable wall of wing (modern datestone); altered and restored. Coursed squared magnesian limestone, and daubed render probably covering similar masonry; stone slate roof. L-shaped plan formed by single-unit main range on north-south axis, with rear outshut, and 2-unit crosswing at north end. Two and 2 1/2 storeys, one and 2 bays respectively; the east front has a small gabled porch in the angle with the wing, a 4-light recessed casement to the left, a similar 3-light window above this; and a large chimney stack on the ridge in line with the porch; the left gable wall has a 3-light window on each floor (matching those at the front), and a 3-step mounting block towards the rear. The wing has window a 4-light window at 1st floor, and a 3-light attic window with stone mullions; continuous dripbands over all these windows, that at ground floor carried round; modern datestone inscribed: + 1627 WM ridged gable coping with kneelers; large chimney in centre of ridge.

Re-entrant wall has a 2-light stone mullion window at 1st floor (above porch). The north return wall of the wing has windows of 3,3, and 2 lights at ground floor, 4 and lights above, all with rendered surrounds. At the rear, the gable of the wing has one window on each floor (4, 4, and 2 lights), the outshut has a modern addition at ground floor and a large gabled dormer in the roof.

Interior; a large lateral beam in the main range; deep chimney stack 2; roof trusses in the attic of the wing.
