Large house of courtyard plan. In building between late C14 and C17. Coursed rubble with quoins. Welsh slate roofs with projecting stone chimneys.

Crenelation to main (north-east) building. Various multi-light windows with square heads, hoodmoulds and stone mullions. Substantial remains of Great Hall and kitchen.

Gatehouse virtually intact although lacking roof and floors. Wharton coat of arms on the exterior. See R.C.H.M. for detailed description. For C17 description and plan, see M.S.
