GV II

House. Mid C19. MATERIALS: squared and coursed limestone with Ham Hill stone plinth and dressings, slate roof with stone coping and stacks, extended in brick, to gable ends. PLAN: double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: Classical style. 2 storeys with basement; symmetrical 3-window range. Steps up to double doors with a large semi-circular overlight and round-arch doorcase with a Gibbs surround. Rusticated quoins, platband at cill-level, and a moulded eaves cornice. Late C19 horned 2/2-pane sashes with keystones to architraves. The right return has a tall round-arched stair window with margin panes. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: spearhead area railings with acorn finials and scroll supports on a Ham Hill stone plinth are attached to the house on the left and to a gate pier with a pyramidal cap to the right, which is attached by a wall to the house.
