Description

Photography by John Gay, including; Highgate Cemetery, London churches and buildings, agricultural topics. Gay was interested in ironwork and many photos include views of iron construction, sculpture, street furniture and buildings. The collection consists of folders of contact sheets, which are arranged topographically, negatives and selected prints.

Within the collection are a small number of copy negatives created by John Gay from original material dating from the early decades of the twentieth century.

It is believed that some of the photography in the collection may have been taken by other people including the photographer's wife Marie Gay.
