Walls to walled garden with gates and corner piers, Castle Howard Estate, Henderskelfe - North Yorkshire Council (UA)

Walls to the walled garden, early C18 by Sir John Vanbrugh. The brick walls are in fair condition, but the calcareous sandstone piers are decaying, largely due to corrosion of iron cramps. They need extensive repair. A strategy for the estate's buildings is under development. One pier has recently been repaired following vehicle damage and will be a model for the rest.
