Bases of pair of chimneystacks at Abbey Mills Pumping Station, Abbey Lane E15 - London Legacy (MDC)
Two chimney bases built in 1865 by Sir Joseph Bazalgette. Elaborate pedimented porches to battered brick plinths crowned by stone bases of octagonal stacks (demolished). The brick and stonework have been severely damaged by invasive plant growth, although this is now being monitored and removed regularly. The stonework porches have suffered partial collapse. A survey has been carried out and remedial works are planned. Listed Building Consent has been granted and these works are now out to tender and expected to commence summer 2023.
