The Royal Pavilion Gardens, Brighton - Brighton and Hove, City of (UA)
John Nash designed picturesque layout of serpentine walks and drives, flowery shrubberies and trees within open lawns of the private seaside royal estate. Restored in1990 high levels of visitor use, event pressures, crime and anti-social behaviour affect the garden condition and safety. Later insertions and temporary uses conceal the garden's overall composition and identity. As highly socially valued urban green space but with little chance to understand its historical values an enhanced conservation planning process is being consulted upon to inform a National Lottery Heritage Fund bid.
